The Westminster Confession of Faith was produced in 1647. Em and I have been reading it at dinner for a number of weeks now. Chapter XX
On Christian Liberty, and Liberty of Conscience is one of my favorite chapters. Section 2 begins with this marvelous clause: "God alone is Lord of the conscience. . . ." We would do well always to take heed of this. O sweet liberty! Man would rule over the conscience, but he may not do so. It's not his prerogative. "God alone is Lord of the conscience."
